Day 19 - Slabs Poured

Today consisted of the slabs for the basement and garage being poured.  It was still very muddy.  Today, I got to bring a little bit of my new home, home to my old home in the form of mud all over my shoes!  LOL.
Does it mean that the garage failed?
A slab of concrete is poured, in forms, on top of a prepared bed of compacted sand and gravel. It is usually reinforced with re-bar and heavy wire mesh for strength and stability... which I showed you yesterday. :)
I can't wait to walk on it!
It already has a dent on the edge, am I odd that I want it fixed?
I can see the slight slope on the garage in this picture

Day 18 - Slab Prep

I believe that today consisted of slab preparations.  Not much but I'll take every little bit of progress I can get.
I wasn't able to get up into the yard to look into the foundation because it was muddy due to rain today.
Digger disappeared from the corner of my lot
looks like re-bar or some kind of heavy wire mesh
I was able to walk up the rocky driveway. (hello ankle breaking danger!)
Are those empty dips supposed to be there?

Days 9 & 10

No progress to report for days 9 & 10.  It was the weekend, everyone deserves some time off! :)  Here are some dryer (but not by much) pictures of our foundation forms filled with concrete.

Day 8 - Foundation Walls Poured

Today's activity consisted of completing the setup of the foundation forms and pouring the concrete, in the pouring rain I might add.  I do not know if the rain will have any effect on the structure or strength of the walls.  I'll have to ask the PM.  Let's hope it doesn't.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to catch the action of the complete setup.  I really wish I had!  I am concerned the egress and basement windows are in the wrong location.  I trust my PM was on the ball though and they are right where they are supposed to be.  I can hardly wait for the forms to come off just so I can verify they're where they should be.  I am OCD.  There's also some non-standard stuff going on with the garage but I'll post more about that another day once I have confirmed I understand it correctly.

I am still very extremely uneasy about our grading.  It's very obvious to me now that a patio isn't going to be possible without some serious stairs coming out of the morning room door, which is a HUGE problem for our family as some of us have vision problems.

Not sure what the white things are - the truck was stuck good!
The truck was about a foot from sliding into the newly filled forms
