Garage Door Opener Option with RH - Help

Does anyone have the garage door opener offered by Ryan Homes?  What's your thoughts on it?  I got some info from my SR on it but it's missing the model name and really most of the details.  Is it chain or belt?  Have you had any problems with it?  Can you use one of those nifty apps to run it?  Does it have any nifty features at all?

Did you opt to buy your own and install it?  Did you opt to buy your own and pay someone to install it?  I'm leaning towards taking it off our list since I know so little about it and don't seem to have sufficient reviews.

  1. We are getting whatever they offer but I'm not sure what kind it is. We had previously built a house years ago and opted not to have them do it and it ended up being one of those annoying things we had to take care of and took weeks to get it installed so this time we just decided to take whatever they offered. I hope it's not totally crappy!

    1. If I get more information on the one being offered here I'll give you the info. I'm hoping it's a good one too. We don't want to wrestle with having to do it after close but we don't want to settle for just anything either :/

  2. Other bloggers indicated it uses a chain and isn't the quietest opener. Something to think about if you're a light sleeper, but not as big of an issue since the Florence's master isn't above the garage like on some floor plans. We plan on getting one from Lowes or Home Depot and paying for installation (also read they may charge extra due to the garage height).

    1. We're trying to take into consideration the hours that we will be opening and noise not only inside the home, but outside. I don't want our garage door opening at 430am waking the neighbor, know what I mean? lol!

  3. We did not opt for it, sorry I cannot be more help. This was one that we debated, but in the end it looked like going through Lowes or Home Depot was less expensive. We are going to ask of PM if it can be installed during the building process. If not, we will set up an appointment for the day after we close.

  4. I did opt to get the opener, but like you, I don't know anything about it...so I am of no help either. Sorry. It was just something I didn't want to bother with later, and I felt I needed day one.

    1. yeah, I understand. We don't want to have to bother with it later either but we don't want to get something that we will hate rolled into a very big mortgage! If I get any info I will share it with you :)

  5. Just like anything else I dont think that opener will be of any great quality. I say skip it, I know it cant do the fancy stuff ours can. I have an app on our phone that can operate it from our phone and it works perfectly, came with two openers and a pad outside. Total was under $500 installed...

Do you want to roll that money into your mortgage or can you pay for it on the side afterwards?

    1. I hate the idea of little things being rolled into a mortgage - can you imagine how much that item costs at the end? wow - crazy! Which model did you go with?

    2. Its called a Lift Master, we didnt buy it from a bulk store, its a very quiet belt driven opener. I really really like it, my garage is below our master and its super quiet.
